To Put Him to Death

Today I opened to Matthew 27:1

When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death.

My devotion comes to me in a poem (of course)

To blot Him out
They made a plan
To rid the world
of this one Man
They took their counsel
Against our Lord
To blot Him out
and to hide His Word
They put Him to death
Or so they thought
For He rose again
And our sins He bought
With lifeblood dripping
from a cross to view
Let it fall on me
Let it fall on you!

I OPENED MY BIBLE AND...

I am starting something new...I will open my Bible to a random verse and write a short devotion on it.  I hope you enjoy and gain a blessing.

But first, let this be my goal for every new day:

TODAY

Today I will smile
It eases the brow
Today I will care
It seizes the now
Today I'll step lightly
It lessens the load
Today I'll choose wisely
It blesses the soul

Dear Miss Teacher

Dear Miss Teacher
I am the student who sits in the back
You won't even know I'm here
For I won't ask questions...I won't fuss
At any time this year
I apologize ahead of time
If my stomach growls a bit
It'll only happen if I'm late
And school breakfast I don't get
And I'm sorry that my clothes are stained
And torn and out of style
But if you dare to look past them
You just might see me smile
And I'm sorry that my hair is not
Fixed like the other girls
It's just that sometimes water's off
And I can't wash my curls
That bruise? Oh I fall down a lot
It's nothing really new
My Mama says I'm clumsy
And I guess it's really true
And when my Dad comes 'round at times
As he is known to do
My Mama cries a little more
And she gets clumsy too.
But Miss Teacher, I am glad to come
And see your smiling face
And when you walk right past me
Your perfume fills up the place
So I will sit here quietly
Throughout the whole school year
And unless you really look for me
You won't even know I'm here.

Greetings From the Heart...To My Best Friend

To My Best Friend
Who else can I talk to
Where else can I cry
Who else really listens
Without asking why
Who knows all my secrets
Who shares in my plans
Who is always willing
To lend me a hand
With whom can I quarrel
Or just disagree
And who doesn't hold
A grudge against me
Who is this person
That sticks to the end
Well I think you know
It's YOU, my best friend!

Greetings From the Heart...To My Boss

To My Boss
Do you think you're special?
Do you think you're 'all that'
Well Boss, I'm here to tell you
It's a proven fact!
For I checked around the office
I asked everyone I met
And they all agree with me
Yes, I'm afraid on this we're set:
We all think you're pretty special
And 'all that', yes, Boss it's true
And we all simply want to say
Hey Boss, we appreciate you!

Greetings From the Heart...To Pastor and His Wife

To Pastor and His Wife
The work that you do
In spreading God's Word
Goes often unnoticed
Is often unheard
Who knows of your struggles
Temptations you face
As you seek God for guidance
Accepting His grace
Who knows of the tears
Who sees them fall
When you're given a sermon
That will not please them all
So Pastor, to you
And your wonderful wife
Just know I thank God
For your dedicated life.

Greetings From the Heart...To My Child's Teacher

To My Child's Teacher
I send my child off to school
For eight hours he's away
Then he comes home with this attitude
"Mom, look what I learned today!"
He gives me papers I must display
...can't see my ice-box door
And all he wants to do is READ
No t.v. much anymore
I tell you, teacher, I'm at a loss
Just don't know what to do...
I tell you teacher, whatever you did...
Keep it up...Oh, and Thank You!

Greetings From the Heart...To Grandpa

To Grandpa
Did I ever tell you how I love
The stories that you tell
The way your whiskers tickle my face
And that good old after-shave smell
Did I ever tell you how I love
To ride on the mower with you
I feel so big and powerful
So happy through and through
Did I ever tell you how I think
That God in heaven up there
Picked me to have the BEST Grandpa
Of Grandpas everywhere!

Greetings From the Heart...To Grandma

To Grandma
I love to come to your house
And rummage through the drawer
That holds those tiny treasures
I can line up on the floor
I love to come to your house
And spend a night or two
All wrapped up in that cozy quilt
And cuddle up with you
I love to come to your house
Where the pancakes swim in syrup
And the milk is oh so chocolaty
I just can't help but slurp
I love to come to your house
Play with boats in the kitchen sink
And put in lots of bubbles
While you look at me and wink
I love to come to your house
Grandma, you know it's true
I love to come to your house
Because Grandma, I love you!

Greetings From the Heart...To The Other Woman

To The Other Woman
You were always with him
To kiss away his tears
You helped him as struggled
Silently all these years
When he needed guidance
You were right there by his side
When he needed comfort
Your arms were open wide
Even when I came along
YOU were the center of his life...
He is proud to call you Mother,
And I am proud to be his wife!

Greetings From the Heart...In My Kitchen

In My Kitchen
Welcome to my kitchen
I'm so glad you happened by
Let's enjoy a cup of coffee
And perhaps a slice of pie
We'll engage in conversation
Talk of olden days and new
We'll catch up on all the latest
Maybe gossip, as friends do
We will take a little comfort
In the fact that we are friends
For you are welcome in my kitchen
Time and time and time again.

Greetings From the Heart...To Sister, Brother, Cousin or Friend:

To __________
How long has it been
Where did the time go
When we were just children
Lined up in a row
When we played in the yard
Until night time rolled in
Then got up the next day
And did it again
When we quarrelled and fought
And we laughed and we cried
Then we all ended up
On each other's side
How long has it been
Where did the time go
When we were just children
Lined up in a row...

Greetings From the Heart...To Daughter On Your Marriage

To My Daughter On Your Marriage
It seems like only yesterday
I held you in my arms
I bounced you on my knee
And protected you from harm
And then I turned around
And you were walking on your own
By the time I turned around again
You were tying up the phone
And then you walked right through the door
Wearing that young man's ring
Now my wish for you my daughter
Is all the happiness marriage can bring!

Greetings From the Heart...To Our Daughter

To Our Daughter
We waited so impatiently
To hold you in our arms
We couldn't wait to see your face
And be captured by your charms
Your room...all ready for you
Filled with frilly girlie stuff
Was in no way complete until
You filled it up with love
We have so many hopes and dreams
For you...our honey bun
We promise to fulfill your needs
Yes, each and every one
So as you start your journey
Through this pretty awesome world
Your brand new family greets you
Welcome home, our little girl.

Greetings From the Heart...To Our Son

To Our Son
When we heard "It's gonna be a boy"
We wore smiles so big and wide
We went around and told the world
Oh how we beamed with pride
And when we brought you home with us
And put you down to sleep
Your dad and I sat up and talked
Of promises to keep
And when you grow and learn to read
And look upon this poem
You'll see how much we've loved you
Since the day we brought you home.

Greetings From the Heart...To My Sister

To My Sister
It seems like only yesterday
You followed me around
And tagged along behind me
Every time I went to town
We traded clothes and make-up
We traded quarrels too
But we always got things settled
As only sisters do
And now we're grown and married
With families of our own
And I cherish you as much today
As I did when we were home!

Greetings From the Heart...To My Brother

To My Brother
We've come a long way, brother
From the playground of our home
From the little spats and quarrels
And the backyard where we roamed
From the trees we climbed together
And the candy that we shared
From the kites we flew in springtime
And the secrets that we bared
And now we're grown and things have changed
As only time will do
So this is just my little way of saying...
My brother, I love you.

Greetings From the Heart...To DAD

TO DAD
When I was just a little child
How I looked up to you
I treasured all the times we spent
At the park, the gym, the zoo
I didn't know how hard you worked
To keep me clothed and fed
To make sure I was safe and sound
When you tucked me into bed
From you I learned the meaning
of hard work and honesty
I learned that I could chase my dreams
Because you believed in me
And now with children of my own
I realize the task you had
And I'm proud to be the daughter
of the World's Greatest Dad!

Greetings From the Heart...to MOM

TO MOM
You bounced me on your knee
When I was just a little child
You held me to your breast
And brought me comfort when you smiled
You knew when I was hungry,
Cold, uncomfortable, or wet
You knew my wants, you knew my needs,
And you saw that they were met
You gave me something priceless,
Something valuable and true
You gave me all you ever could...
For MOM, you gave me YOU!

Why Coffee and Rainbows?

Well, because I love coffee. And what does that have to do with rainbows? I have a crystal hanging in my window, and sometimes when I am drinking my cup of coffee, and the sun is just beginning to poke its rays through the slit in the curtain, the crystal prism catches the light and a rainbow dance occurs on the walls and ceiling all around the room. And as I sip the coffee and watch the rainbows, I reflect and meditate. I think of goals for the day, think of my family, my friends, my purpose. And I urge to dance into somebody's life and offer a splash of color for a time, a word of encouragement, a smile, a shoulder, whatever my Creator has for me to do for this day. It may not be big..neither are the slivers of color that dance in and out of the room, but they are beautiful. I want to be a rainbow for somebody today! And now, I will enjoy my coffee and rainbows...
